Tabletop Treatments

With a little imagination and some simple supplies that can be found around the house, you can turn the table or even an entire room into a frightfully fun place.

Spooky Tree-Mobile

Build a spooky tree-mobile using branches sprayed with black paint. "Plant" the tree in plaster of Paris, prepared in a bucket or pail. Use elastic thread to hang store-bought plastic spiders or other fun Halloween items.

Decorative Spiders

Spider! To make your own decorative spiders, fold a 9-inch circle of black poster board in half and place on table to look like the letter "D." Now, draw the letter "B" against the fold on the poster board. Cut out shape with scissors. (It will look like a snowman or an "8".) Fold back up and cut on crease halfway to the center of the first circle. Do the same to the bottom circle. Overlap paper on the top circle and the bottom circle, making a cone shape and staple into place.

Punch eight holes on the bottom circle and insert TWIZZLERS Candy legs. Next, make small hole in the center of the back of the spider and thread elastic string through it, making a knot below the spider's belly. Punch two small holes for its mouth and insert a piece of TWIZZLERS PULL-N-PEEL Candy to make a smile. Glue two ROLO Caramels in Milk Chocolate on for spider's eyes.

Pumpkin Decorating and Carving Tips

Using a washable marker, draw a figure on your pumpkin to serve as a guide when carving. Figures for carving could include a: cat, vampire, witch, gremlin, crescent moon, bat, scary face.

When you have finished carving your pumpkin, cut off the top at an angle using a peeler, serrated knife or small utility blade. Place a small votive candle and candle holder in the pumpkin to illuminate your carvings.

Note: If you don't finish with the pumpkin carving in one session, loosely seal in plastic wrap and put in refrigerator.

Party Place Cards

PumpkinsMake "handy" place cards for each child! Have kids outline one hand on a paper plate and print their name on the other side. Outline the hand print with black marker. Place on the table and have the children find their own hand prints. No peeking!

Pumpkin Candy Bowls

Carve out three pumpkins to spell the word "BOO." After carving, line the interior with plastic wrap and then with black felt, so the lettering shows clearly. Fill with an assortment of candy.

Festive Candy Bowl

For a festive tabletop "treat"ment, fill a Halloween-themed bowl with your favorite candy.
